The Homabed from Cascade Rail Supply arrived late last week and this weekend I had some time to begin the process of laying the roadbed. First, I had to transfer my hand-drawn plans to the "great foam plains". Using my home-made trammel, I drew 24" radius (and one 22" radius) curves and connected them with the straight sections. Following an article on the Model Railroader website, I added easements between the curves and straight sections.
Transferring the plans was the least enjoyable thing I've done on the model so far. There was much erasing! Once I had a reasonable section of the plan on the foam and plywood, I decided it would keep me motivated to get some homasote glued down.
Things are taking shape!
