Demolition

Before deciding on a track plan, I needed to know how much space I had to work with. To maximize the space available, I decided to remove a wall partition which would provide an empty area 15 by 15 feet. Not huge but it would be enough for what I wanted to do. There's a lot of chatter about the "purpose" of one's model railroad. I aways just assumed we did it for fun. But there are quite a few aspects to the hobby to focus: modeling, scenery, operations, etc. I wasn't planning on having long operating sessions with several people - this layout was for me to operate. Jon advised that I design the track plan with some operations in mind otherwise it could get boring running a train around a loop.
