Here's what's been happening in the train room this summer:
Yard design: I decided to use the Micro Engineering Ladder Track system to save space. It has been impossible to locate stock of these turnouts due to supply chain issues. I have been using paper cut-outs of the templates available on their website.
Locating and painting details for the Fine Scale Miniature build (more about that project in an upcoming post). A lot of empty space needs to be filled with appropriate details. These oil cans are among the smallest items.
In June, we were able to spend two weeks in Denver visiting family. In the past, I snuck in a trip to Caboose for some modeling supplies. However, it was reported in early 2021 that they closed their doors permanently. We did spend some hours touring the Colorado Railroad Museum. This is a recommended stop for even the passive train enthusiast!
